Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has a “mild” strained left hamstring and will miss at least two weeks, coach Rick Carlisle said on Wednesday.
“I don’t think it is realistic that he’d play before that,” Carlisle said of Haliburton, who is listed as week-to-week. “And then go from there.”
Earlier in the day, Carlisle told 107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis that the Pacers had brought in a hamstring expert whom they have consulted in the past. The specialist was to meet with the team’s trainers, Haliburton and members of the front office before Wednesday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
A short-lived return
Haliburton played in the first four games of the season, including a back-to-back on Sunday and Monday, after missing 16 months while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the 2025 NBA Finals. He acknowledged feeling “a little beat up” after Monday’s game in Milwaukee before appearing on the injury report on Wednesday.
Across those four outings, Haliburton averaged 21.8 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 52% shooting, playing 33 minutes per game.
He has dealt with left hamstring trouble before. In January 2024, he missed 10 of 11 games with the injury. He returned for the rest of the season, but aggravated it during the playoffs and missed the final two games of the Eastern Conference finals against Boston.
Haliburton becomes the latest star sidelined by injury at the start of the season, joining Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard.
Injuries mount for Indiana
The Pacers are also struggling with depth. Four of their five starters appeared on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Sixers.
Ivica Zubac has already been ruled out with a left ankle sprain. Carlisle said T.J. McConnell, who has yet to play this season, has a right hamstring strain and is expected to miss approximately one more week. Ben Sheppard tore his left meniscus and is expected to miss “months”, according to Carlisle, while Johnny Furphy has had surgery on his right ACL.
Andrew Nembhard missed Monday’s game in Milwaukee and is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s contest with neck soreness.
Indiana won 19 games last season, the fewest wins in a season in franchise history, while Haliburton was sidelined for the entire 2025-26 campaign.
